Compassion is a social feeling that motivates people to go out of their way to relieve the physical, mental, or emotional pains of others and themselves. Compassion is sensitivity to the emotional aspects of the suffering of others.
If you knew that awareness of emotions in this simple way, would you let them dominate your life. Or would you accept their feeling (pain) and allow yourself to feel them and move them up and down the scale as you learn to accept their presence and feeling.
Emotions do not go away they just change in frequency and impact. The more we fight against them the more intense the pain gets.
Compassion does not mean you need to take on board the feelings of other as your own. With compassion you can understand and support the feelings of others, without getting emotionally involved.
